History
The Southern Highlands Writers’ Festival (SHWF) was established in 2012. It has evolved over the years into one of the go-to social events in the Southern Highlands. This page is dedicated to all things brand, behind-the-scenes and general festival shenanigans.
Festival posters
The Festival had a rebrand in 2025 evolving the original ink splat motif into a more expressive ink splash. This reflected the Festival’s diverse lineup of talent that along with authors, also included film directors, poets, actors, comedians and musicians. The tramline logo (with its subtle nod to bookshelves), also changed into a more fluid text based system that could be easily adapted to digital and print layouts.
Pop-up bookshop (2013)
Over the course of an intense 72 hours, the SHWF creative team - Mic, Kylie, Cas and James – transformed an empty shell of a shop on Bong Bong street into our Festival HQ! After only a few hours of operation, we we’re swamped by festival-goers. On display in the shop were books and bios of our featured authors. You could chat to Kylie and Michaela about the Festival program and book tickets. It was open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until the Festival started.
